Getting Back To Basics

Recently I decided it was time to get back to basics as I have been feeling uninspired. I always enjoyed shooting long exposure shots, but ran out of ideas for them. I also either lost or my tripod was stolen from my suitcase(I never used it while there and don’t recall taking it out) while on a trip to Hawaii a few years ago, so I couldn’t shoot any more long exposure shots as I’ve never replaced it. Fast forward to August of this year and my Father-In-Law said while we were in Nara for Obon he wanted to go shoot at the Lantern Festival in Nara City. It felt fresh to get out and shoot long exposures again. I borrowed one of his tripods and we walked around spot to spot shooting and talking. He seemed to be really enjoying himself as he normally doesn’t shoot that kind of photo.

In the end it was very refreshing and I think I should get out and shoot more of these. I already have another shot in my mind here in Tokyo, so if I can not break the bank on a decent tripod, then hopefully I will shoot it soon. Too many wants and needs these days.
