Jason’s Winter Update

投稿日:

Hello everyone! This is Jason. It’s been a while since I’ve last posted, so let me catch you up on what I did over the winter.

For Christmas my family and I traveled back to my hometown of Dayton, Ohio so my family could meet our daughter May for the first time. It was a nice for everyone and May came out of her shell and got a lot more social due to all the social interaction.

Over January and February I went skiing a lot at Kagura Ski Resort with Kobata San and another friend. Kagura is my favorite place to ski near Tokyo because they allows off-piste skiing. Add to it Japan having some of the best snow in the world and I had the best skiing of my life. Our last trip out we ventured a whole mountain off piste to a place nobody had skied yet. The snow was so fresh and deep. It felt like we were skiing on clouds! I’m pretty sure it was the best skiing I’ve ever experienced.

In-between skiing trips in February I ran the Tokyo Marathon for the third time. My goal this year was to get my time under 3 hours, but the last 10km I was battling cramps in my legs, so I had to stop and stretch a lot. I still managed to achieve a personal best time of 4 hours 15 minutes, so I was still happy. My daughter was so happy to see me at the finish. It made me forget how tired I was, at least until I tried to walk again.

She was happy to see her Daddy.

My times from the race.

Finally, later this month Kobata San and I are running in a track meet with what seems to be only university students. Myself turning 40 years old later this month, I will most likely be the oldest person there, but I’m ok with it. I haven’t run track for 21 years, so it will be fun.

That’s about it. Sorry if my post isn’t focused to any single subject. There is nothing too exciting to speak of as of recent, just everyday life stuff. Thanks for reading!
